Frequently Asked Questions

How should we dress?

Dress comfortably for the weather. Shorts, jeans, t-shirts are fine. Wear non-marking sneakers or boat shoes. Please no flip flops, sandels, open toed, or street shoes. Bring a light jacket and/or a rain slicker.  A ball cap to keep the sun out of your eyes. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses.

Do we need a life jacket?

Yes. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn.  If you have a favorite life jacket, please feel free to bring your own.

Should we bring a lunch?

Yes. We recommend packing a lunch and any snacks and drinks you may wish to have for the day. No alcohol please. We will take a 30 minute lunch break around noon for the Keelboat 101 course. We have a cooler with ice aboard.

If I sign up for Keelboat 101 - Parts 1 & 2, do I have to take them in one weekend?

No, you may choose any available day.

How physically fit do I need to be?

You should be agile and in good health, able to move about unaided on a slanted deck while handling lines.

What if it starts to rain while we are sailing?

Although this is not common, we will sail in light rain so bring a rain slicker or a change of clothes. If it thunderstorms, we will head for shelter in the marina. If bad weather prevents on the water instruction, unused time will be made up at a later date. This will be the skipper's call.
